In
the 1940s, Harry Anslinger sponsored U.S. government propoganda against marijuana,
including the infamous Reefer Girls comic book. With the slogan
Reefer Girls
Theyll do anything for another toke and
a cover illustration of a Black woman and a Hispanic woman seducing a White
woman into shooting up marijuana with a syringe!
[NOTE: Reefer Girls t-shirts, featuring the original comic book cover, are available from Hempstead.]
As
we head into the 21st Century, ReeferGirls.com is transforming the Reefer Girls
into positive role models for women.
The Reefer Girls story is an interactive, cooperative, on-line story. This is a cooperative story because women all of the world are invited to send e-mail with your suggestions for story ideas, plot twists, alternative threads, suggested dialog, or any changes to existing portions of the story. And, this being an on-line interactive, multiple story lines are not possible, but encouraged. Additionally, you are invited to e-mail your own illustrations, paintings, and pictures of the Reefer Girls story (including photographs of yourself and your friends dressed up as Reefer Girls).
There are twelve Reefer Girls, each representing an archtypical woman. Most parts of the story line feature only a few of the Reefer Girls at a time.

You have the choice of passively reading or actively participating in the construction of the story.
If you want to just passively read, you can read the story from the point of view of any of the participating characters. At key junctures, you will be given the opportunity to switch which character you are following and/or make major decisions about what happens next.
If you want to actively participate, you can take a look at the background information on any story part and submit artwork or writings (or even just ideas) to help build up the story.
